Carmen Lamont …

Carmen is a veteran guitarist with many years of playing and teaching experience. In the early days of her career she studied privately and then followed that up studying at Humber College in their Jazz Program. She went on to tour for many years with various bands. More recently, Carmen focuses on her own original nu-rock band “The Bleeding Lights” as well as regularly performing locally as a soloist and with the cover band “The Copy Cats”

Carmen loves to teach and has been doing it for many years. She likes to split her focus between the more technical side of things and the more fun side of the things, trying to balance the important fundamentals with the weekly fun of playing guitar. Carmen loves to sing and likes to inject as much singing as possible into her lessons which makes her a perfect choice for a student who is interested in learning to play guitar and sing in a singer/songwriter type of way. Carmen enjoys the younger students (7+) and has lots of experience with them but is equally as comfortable with adults. Carmen also teaches Ukulele.


Joana Angeles ...

Joana has been immersed in music as long as she can remember. She has played the violin most of that time. Joana earned her Bachelor of Pedagogy from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México before moving to Canada. Since then she has been teaching, performing and working on her Suzuki teaching qualifications. Beyond her formal training, Joana brings a genuine enthusiasm for the love of music to her lessons putting an emphasis on small ensemble performance along side her weekly lessons. Each month, Joana offers an opportunity for kids (and adults) to join her in an ensemble class to facilitate the experience of playing in a group format.


Kate Yang …

At Kate’s young age, she has achieved a fantastic amount of success with her piano studies. Kate has completed her Grade 10 RCM in the 10 years that she has been playing. She is currently working towards completing her ARCT teaching credential with the RCM. Kate joined our team a few years ago and has been building a loyal following of students ever since. Her sweet, calm disposition make for a relaxing yet effective lesson experience. Kate is also fluent in Chinese which can be a great benefit for our Chinese speaking students and their families.


Tiana Zhang …

Tiana has been working on her piano skills for most of her life having completed her RCM Grade 10 level at her relatively young age. That said, she has no shortage of experience when it comes to working with kids in an education environment. Having taught piano privately as well as her work with the Big Brother’s & Sister’s organization, tutoring elementary and middle school students. Her enthusiasm for playing, positive attitude along with her excellent communication and organization skills make for a great learning experience for kids and adults alike. She’ll push for progress while keeping the goal of fun and enjoyment at the forefront. Tiana is also fluent in Mandarin as well as French.


Kryslyne-Mai Ancheta…

Kryslyne joins our teaching team having completed her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from York University along with a degree from Laurier University in Musical Theatre. Kryslyne has a long list of musical performance credits in both the musical theatre world as well as in the musical (band and solo) performance world. Along with her performing experience, Kryslyne has taught voice and guitar extensively for the past many years. For fun, Kryslyne loves to work collaboratively with her band writing and performing original music. She also is part of a troupe called “passing strangers” who’s mission it is to share the love and importance of music to random people in the streets of our city by engaging them in spontaneous music in the streets. Her teaching style is joyful and enthusiastic while keeping an eye on proper fundamentals but mostly, enjoyment. Kryslyne is a great choice for voice lessons of any level and beginner to intermediate guitar.

Olivia Bates …

Olivia joins our teaching staff with a wealth of musical experience for her young age. Olivia has played piano since the age of 3 starting her journey in the Yamaha Music program. She has since completed her Grade 7 RCM Piano. Along the way, she took up Trumpet in grade school but soon realized her passion for the instrument. This led her to enrol as a music major (Trumpet) at Cawthra Park in their renowned RAP (Regional Arts Program). Having completed her high school studies now, Olivia is onto University but remains locally available for custom booked trumpet lessons. When it comes to musical interests, there are not many musicals that she does not LOVE! and she continues to perform in the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra (Classical). Her love of music, passion for live performances and fun personality make her a great option for your specialty trumpet studies.


Ross Burant ...

After spending 13 years studying the violin, Ross turned his attention to guitar. In 2014 he completed his Bachelor of Contemporary Music degree at Humber College studying with some of Canada's top guitar instructors. While Ross's focus these days is on guitar, he keeps his violin skills up by continuing to practice as well as performing with various types of ensembles from time to time. On guitar, Ross has a strong background in jazz but taps into various other styles including rock, pop, country and blues for his gigging work.


Galen Weir ...

Galen is a graduate of the Humber Jazz Program with a Bachelor Of Music. As a performer of a wide variety of musical genres (big band swing, classic rock, Latin jazz, heavy metal, classical, funk... and pretty much everything in between), he is more then able/willing to work in most any style with his students. He has a strong formal background in music theory as well as a strong ear for lifting lines from a recording. His easy going approach combined with his formal training are a great combination. Galen is comfortable with piano students up to Grade 5 RCM, and all levels of guitar, bass and ukulele students.


Tom Koncan ...

Tom graduated from the Humber College Music Program where he studied jazz, latin, funk and fusion music with some of Canada's most advanced instructors. He went onto perform extensively in Canada, the USA and Europe for many years. For the past decade, Tom has made Oakville his home and focused more on local playing, recording and a regular schedule of teaching. Tom's students get the benefit of his solid musical background, his years of playing and teaching experience and most importantly, his fun loving and lighthearted personality.
